FAQs
What is the Sunshine Coast Canine Collective (SCCC)?
SCCC is a community-driven resource hub that connects dog owners with local, trusted services on the Sunshine Coast. From trainers and walkers to groomers and pet sitters, we help you find science-based, humane, and reliable care for your dog.
Is SCCC a business or nonprofit organization?
No, currently SCCC is not a registered business or nonprofit. It’s an informal collective run by a local dog owner who saw a need for a centralized, community-focused directory of dog-related services.
What is a “collective”?
A collective is a group of individuals or businesses working together toward a shared goal—in this case, supporting the well-being of dogs and their humans on the Sunshine Coast. The SCCC is not a formal organization, but rather a collaborative community hub where dog owners and ethical service providers can connect, share resources, and build trust. It’s about community over competition, and working together to create a more informed, supportive environment for dogs.
What does it mean to become a member of the Collective?
Membership simply means your business or services are listed on our directory. Membership is open to local service providers (trainers, walkers, groomers, etc.). We ask that members align with our values—offering safe, ethical, and evidence-based care for dogs. Membership is free and designed to increase your visibility in the community.
I’m a dog owner, do I need to become a member?
No - our directory is free to use for any and all dog owners, without a membership. Membership is reserved for businesses and service providers as a way for us to keep track of who is listed in our directory.
Do you vet or certify the businesses listed on the site?
We do our best to evaluate listings based on publicly available information and stated practices, but we do not formally certify or endorse providers. We encourage dog owners to do their own due diligence: ask questions, request references, and ensure a good fit—especially for services that directly handle your dog.
I have a reactive or special-needs dog—can I find services that understand our needs?
Yes! One of the core reasons SCCC was created was to help people with dogs who need extra support. Many of the trainers and providers listed specialize in positive, low-stress handling and are experienced with reactive, anxious, or sensitive dogs. We encourage you to have a look at our resource page also.
How can I get my business listed?
If you're a local dog-related service provider and would like to be listed, simply fill out our Enrolment Form on our Home Page. We'll review your submission and reach out if we have any questions. It’s free to join, and a great way to connect with the Sunshine Coast dog community.
I’ve had an issue with one of the businesses listed, what can you do to help?
While we make no guarantees to services or outcomes, we do our best to only knowingly list businesses and services that align with our values. If you have a negative experience, something that goes against our values, please first and foremost write a formal review on google if possible. You can also send us an email, and we will review your complaint. We will give businesses a chance to address any concerns prior to us removing them from the website; however, we are not here to mediate between customers and businesses.
